Bricklayer.org was established for all people having an interest in coding. Here you will find tools, documents, examples, videos, and assignments to develop and sharpen your coding skills. Those of you making the journey through these webpages will learn how to write programs in the functional programming language SML. The programs that we create build artifacts that can be viewed using LEGO Digital Designer, LDraw, Minecraft, and 3D printers.

A Note to Educators

Bricklayer is designed according to a “low threshold no ceiling” philosophy. It has been used to teach computational thinking, coding, programming, and computer science to elementary school students, middle school students, as well as university freshmen.

The world is moving fast, technology is moving fast, and the educational landscape is moving faster. If you are a K-12 teacher, school, or school district and are considering teaching computational thinking, coding, programming, or computer science, we would love to hear from you. A video (2015.12.02) giving an overview of Bricklayer can be found here.
